DSL

DSL is an inexpensive connection usually reserved for very small businesses that are not heavy Internet users. Speeds can be affected by distance from the central office. Speeds are not dedicated as you have in a T-1 or Ethernet connectivity.

Cable

Cable is also a shared Internet connectivity unlike a T-1, Fiber or Ethernet. The technology is newer than DSL and many time you ca get higher speeds even 50 MB to 100 MB although they may be erratic and not as reliable as other forms of high speed Internet.

Ethernet/Fiber

This is the preferred form of Internet connectivity if you can get it at your business location. Many of the carriers are expanding fiber connectivity into areas where businesses are located. It is typically less expensive that T-1 based products. Most businesses are looking for 50 MB and 100 MB products as it is the most cost effective solution for High Speed Internet.

VOIP Phones or Hosted IP

Voip Phones or (Voice over Internet protocol) are IP based phones you can use that run over the Internet. This can save a business start up costs of buying telephone equipment or a PBX. They simply need the IP Handset and plug directly into the Internet with a router. A reliable Internet connection is needed as the calls will be traveling over the Net.
